Wood Fines

Soil amendment: wood fines create a healthy, porous soil structure that improves aeration and allows water and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the soil. They are a popular ingredient in potting mixes, particularly for succulents. Mulch: As a top-dressing mulch, wood fines help suppress weeds, regulate soil temperature, and improve moisture retention by slowing evaporation. Composting: Wood fines are a valuable source of carbon (a "brown" material) for balancing a compost pile. Their texture helps prevent compaction and allows for better air circulation.
